Our 4th Annual Block Party Fundraiser was a huge success! Over 23k was raised this year, providing scholarships and support for our future first responders!
During this event, Jamilet Ochoa was awarded a scholarship that will help her pursue her dream of becoming an EMT / Firefighter!
Meet Our Latest Scholarship Recipient
Jamilet Ochoa graduated from East Lee County High School, is extremely active in the community, and a part of the City of Fort Myers Cadet Program.
Jamilet regularly participates in volunteer opportunities and local events to support causes she believes in. Autism Awareness, PTSD Support, and a Summer Camp for future first responders are just a few.
The Future is Bright for Jamilet Ochoa
Our scholarships provide educational opportunities, but every scholarship recipient has their own hopes and dreams. Along with Jamilet’s goal to become an EMT / Firefighter, she has a mission to encourage female firefighters:
“Since the beginning of my sophomore year in high school, I’ve been dedicated to becoming a first responder. My personal mission is to show women of all ages and sizes that anything is achievable.
Growing up I was told that being a firefighter was for big strong men only, which is not the case. Despite my size I work hard so that any little girl who is told the same can see me and know it’s possible. I am pursuing my Emergency Medical Technician certification because I am interested in learning about the medical side of this profession.”
