Danaudrick Matthews is Awarded Scholarship Through SWFL Heroes Foundation
Earlier this year, Danaudrick Matthews was awarded a scholarship through the SW FL Heroes Foundation to attend Firefighter Academy.
This was Danaudrick’s second attempt at pursuing his dream and completing the necessary training. He made the tough decision to forfeit his position as a student the first time around, due to an emergency in his family.
Danaudrick reached out to us with a scholarship application and after meeting with him, as well as his family, we knew we wanted to help Danaudrick fulfill his goal to become a Lee County Firefighter. Danaudrick is an excellent leader and has given back to the Fort Myers community through the Big Brother Program, Habitat for Humanity, Community Cooperative, and the Salvation Army.
We recently heard from Danaudrick and he has passed Firefighter 1 and is ready to get back to class.
Danaudrick is looking forward to graduating in December 2022 (or possibly a bit later due to Hurricane Ian).
