Congratulations Michael Garcia!
Southwest Florida Heroes Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization established to provide financial assistance to the local heroes and aspiring heroes of Southwest Florida, including military personnel, law enforcement, firefighters/EMTs, and teachers.
Michael Garcia was awarded a scholarship from the SWFL Heroes Foundation to help complete his education and reach his goal to become a firefighter here in SWFL.
Michael displayed an exceptional amount of dedication throughout his training to successfully complete Firefighter 1 & 2 with the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy.
We interviewed Michael halfway through his training (pictured below) and he let us know that the course was much more challenging than he first anticipated, but that didn’t stop him!.

Michael had trouble with his first exam, but he dove right into his studies and not only passed but graduated at the top of his class!
The graduation ceremony for Firefighter 1 & 2 was held at the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy on April 26, 2023.
We are proud of Michael Garcia’s accomplishments and we are looking forward to a bright future for him as he serves the SWFL community in his new career.
